The Pitch Athletic Club and Tavern opened on February 27, 2023, perfectly timed for St. Louis CITY SC's inaugural MLS season. Occupying a 9,200-square-foot space at the northwest corner of Union Station, the bar sits directly across 20th Street from Energizer Park, giving it one of the most enviable locations of any soccer bar in America. It was developed by Lodging Hospitality Management with interior design by The Lawrence Group.

Design and Soccer Heritage

The interior evokes an English tap room with distressed leather banquettes, warm walnut woodwork, and semicircular booths arranged beneath generous speaker distribution. A standout feature is the decorative wall built from walnut woodwork salvaged from Tony Faust's restaurant, a legendary St. Louis establishment that dates back to at least 1889 when restaurateur Tony Faust opened his oyster house and saloon at this very site. The walls display an extensive collection of soccer memorabilia, team crests, period photographs, and artwork celebrating soccer history, with dedicated sections honoring Saint Louis University's 10-time NCAA champion men's soccer team and women's program.

The 80-seat main room features four 100-inch televisions above the bar, making it a serious venue for watching matches. An outside patio accommodates an additional 46 guests with views toward the stadium.

Match Day and Morning Kickoffs

The Pitch opens at 6:30 AM on Saturdays and Sundays, offering both a full breakfast menu and a complete bar for early Premier League and European matches. This makes it one of the few dedicated soccer bars in St. Louis with true early-morning service. On CITY SC match days, the bar serves as a prime pre-game and post-game destination, with the stadium literally steps away across the street.

Food and Drink

Executive Chef Adam Link curates a comfort-food menu featuring sandwiches made with Carnegie Deli meats from New York, including pastrami, corned beef, and an open-faced Reuben. Heartier options include chicken pot pie, fish and chips, jumbo Bavarian pretzels, and chicken wings. The bar features ten rotating beer taps showcasing domestic and international selections, plus a signature frozen Irish coffee made with ice cream and coffee essences. The quality of the food program sets The Pitch apart from typical sports bars, reflecting the same attention to detail that went into the historic design.
