Llywelyn's Pub in Webster Groves is the European football hub of suburban St. Louis, serving as the home bar for both the Gateway Gooners, the local Arsenal FC supporters' group, and Mia San STL, the Bayern Munich supporters' club. Located at 17 West Moody Avenue in the charming village center of Webster Groves, this Celtic-themed pub has been a St. Louis institution for half a century, founded in 1975 in the Central West End by Jack Brangle and Jon Dressel.

European Supporter Group Home

The dual supporter group hosting is what sets Llywelyn's apart in the St. Louis soccer landscape. While most bars host a single club or focus exclusively on MLS, Llywelyn's has become the destination for fans who follow European football, particularly the Premier League and Bundesliga. Gateway Gooners gather for every Arsenal match, while Mia San STL brings Bayern Munich supporters together for Bundesliga and Champions League fixtures. During the Saint Louis FC era, Llywelyn's also served as the St. Louligans' away-match watch location, further cementing its place in the city's soccer supporter infrastructure.

As an official CITY on Tap partner presented by Michelob Ultra, the pub also hosts watch parties for St. Louis CITY SC away matches, with Tim Parker's Parker Pilsners at four dollars and fifty cents and discounted Ultra bottles and drafts. The late-night kitchen keeps food service running through post-match celebrations.

History and Character

The original Llywelyn's opened at 4747 McPherson Avenue as a small intimate Welsh pub, named after Prince Llywelyn, the last free prince of Wales. Founders Brangle and Dressel created a gathering place that attracted an eclectic crowd of writers, artists, academics, and locals drawn by good pints and conversation. In 1997, new ownership expanded the theme to include Irish and Scottish selections, transforming Llywelyn's into a broader Celtic pub.

The Webster Groves location features an expansive antique bar rescued from St. Louis's Gaslight Square District, with the huge front bar custom-built by co-owner Kemper to match the century-old back bar. With over 30 beers on draft and 30 more in bottles, plus tables seating ten or more, it is built for communal match-day viewing. Llywelyn's also sponsors the Webster Groves Soccer Club, hosting the club's meetings, post-game events, and fundraisers, which roots the pub in the local youth soccer community as well as the professional supporter scene.
