About
Beffa's Bar and Restaurant is one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in St. Louis, established in 1898 by brothers Attilio and Anselmo Beffa as a saloon in what is now the Midtown neighborhood. Now in its fourth generation under Paul Beffa, the tavern sits at 2700 Olive Street, just three blocks west of Energizer Park, placing it squarely in the match-day orbit of St. Louis CITY SC.
Match Day Hub for STL Santos
Beffa's has become a gathering point for STL Santos, CITY SC's Hispanic supporters' group, on match days. Supporters assemble at Beffa's before heading to Schlafly Tap Room to join the St. Louligans for the march into the stadium. STL Santos is notable for its leadership, which is largely comprised of Hispanic and Latina women, challenging the false perception of soccer as a primarily masculine sport. The group brings Latin food, music, merchandise, and luchador masks to the match-day experience, and Beffa's Midtown location serves as a natural staging ground.
As an official CITY on Tap partner presented by Michelob Ultra, Beffa's hosts official watch parties for away matches. Match-day specials include 15-dollar buckets of beer and four-dollar Michelob Ultra drafts, drawing supporters who want to watch the match in a historic setting close to the stadium.
Food and Character
The menu reflects Beffa's dual identity as a historic tavern and a modern neighborhood restaurant. A lunchtime cafeteria line offers carved roast beef, ham, and daily specials like meatloaf and fried grouper, all for under ten dollars. In the evening, the service shifts to table delivery with plated entrees like pan-roasted chicken and steak frites alongside bar favorites like wings, burgers, and salads. Weekend brunch features corned beef hash and chicken and waffles. Original architectural features remain visible inside, including vintage murals and a period cigarette machine that connect the space to its 1898 origins.
A Century of St. Louis History
Beffa's closed in 2011 after more than a century of continuous operation, leaving Midtown without one of its greatest treasures. The fourth-generation reopening brought the restaurant back to its original location, preserving the family legacy while adapting to the new reality of a neighborhood transformed by the arrival of Energizer Park and professional soccer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Beffa's pivoted to catering and private events, receiving Economic Development Administration financing through the STL Partnership to stay afloat. The restaurant's survival through prohibition, depression, closure, and pandemic speaks to the resilience of the Beffa family and the Midtown community.
