About
Beer Bar sits at 161 E 200 South in downtown Salt Lake City, next door to its sister bar, Bar X — both co-owned by a group of extended family members that includes actor Ty Burrell, best known as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family. Opening in April 2014, the roughly 4,000-square-foot space was designed to evoke a Bavarian beer hall, with long communal tables, high ceilings, and a rotating roster of 150-plus beers including 30 on tap. The food menu, developed with chef Viet Pham (a Food & Wine Best New Chef in 2011), centers on gourmet house-made bratwursts, Belgian fries, and local artisan breads.
The Soccer Identity
Beer Bar is the official home of AO Salt Lake City, the local American Outlaws chapter supporting the U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams. The chapter gathers here for every USMNT and USWNT match, filling the communal tables with red, white, and blue scarves. Beyond the national teams, Beer Bar draws supporters of Manchester City, Everton, and Real Salt Lake, making it one of the few bars in Salt Lake City where you can catch both Premier League and MLS on any given weekend.
Match Day Experience
The bar opens daily at noon and stays open until 1 AM, with scheduled Premier League matches displayed on big screens throughout the hall. Soccer.Town lists upcoming fixtures at the bar including Everton and Manchester City matches, and the venue holds a 4.4-star Google rating from over 1,500 reviews. The German beer-hall atmosphere — communal seating, craft beer flights, hearty sausages — gives match days a distinctly Continental feel that sets Beer Bar apart from the typical American sports bar experience. While the big screens rotate between soccer and curated film selections, the sound goes up and the energy shifts whenever the Outlaws are in the house for a national team match.
